QODA has been appointed to provide the M&E design for Trowbridge Town Hall. The Grade II listed building is owned by Wiltshire Council and over the last 10 years has been run by the Trowbridge Town Hall Trust, an independent charity, home to a welcoming café, two boutique shops, live music, cinema, and creative studios. The building is subject to extensive refurbishment and remodelling as part of the Future High Streets Fund (FHSF) £16 million investment in Trowbridge, enabling it to provide a greater capacity to hold events as well as a diverse programme of cultural and social activities.

Proposed changes to the Town Hall include providing better accessibility to the site. The adjustments will include providing step-free access to the main entrance, relocating the vertical circulation by removing the 1970s staircase and lift and providing a new compliant lift on the western elevation, and providing additional WCs and suitable accessible provisions including a Changing Places facility.

The building refurbishment will also include creating visual links from the entrance foyer through to the Sensory Gardens. A new kitchen and bar will provide the service to the café. The balustrade from the Old Courtroom Judges’ area will be removed to create a stage and a room suitable for events and performances. The project will also open up the Great Hall to provide space for up to 500 guests to enjoy music performances.
