Ventilation and air quality: briefing note
Good design makes a building not just functional and energy-efficient, but also pleasant to live or work in. In part, this relies on effective ventilation and good air quality, where different factors (oxygen/CO2, moisture, cooling, volatile organic compounds, undesirable odours) and solutions can make or break a building’s air quality. Once people come into the picture, more external air may be required to remove exhaled CO2 – making controlled ventilation the method of choice.
