Chris is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years’ experience and a passion for excellence. He is highly collaborative, building trust quickly with clients and design teams alike. He believes in designing buildings for people to thrive, whilst innovating to address the technical challenges of today.
Rodney Barrett | Associate Director
Rodney is a Chartered Building Services Engineer who has 25 years’ experience within the building services sector and over 14 years’ experience managing multi-disciplinary teams. With a focus on excellent client and colleague communication he is able to successfully provide key deliverables, supply process management guidance to team members, and ensure the wellbeing of both project and people is supported.
Yasser Sweidan | Associate
Yasser is an experienced building services engineer in a multitude of sectors and project types. His role ensures that the delivery of each scheme meets with the clients brief and expectations.
Colin Roden | Associate
Colin’s experience covers a broad spectrum in the built environment with a focus on sustainable buildings, mechanical services design, and building operations. His experience in the industry has shaped a practical and considered approach to problem solving and team contribution.
Vlad Sys | Associate
Vlad is a Chartered Building Services Engineer with a wide range of interests across many building sectors. He always strives to provide the highest level of design to fulfil the Client's brief and expectations.
Simon Dove | Technical Director
Simon Dove has been working with light for his entire 30-year career. He’s worked across many sectors on designs large and small but, with any project, feels a collaborative approach is essential for a fruitful outcome.
He believes lighting design should have people at its core – allowing them to perform tasks, and explore and navigate safely. To enjoy their environment and control unwanted light. That we should constantly explore new ideas and technologies to deliver creative design solutions, but not discard established concepts.
Joe Dobson | Associate
Joe has a proven ability to work extremely effectively with clients and professional teams to produce innovative solutions but also to engineer them in a price sensitive, value add manner.
Chris Swinburn | Technical Director
Chris joined QODA in November 2018 and now leads the Oxford sustainability team. He is responsible for a team of modelling engineers providing energy, thermal, and daylight simulations for buildings, as well as looking at advanced modelling techniques and sustainable design practices. He is passionate about making buildings healthy, comfortable, and genuinely low energy through use of passive design and simple servicing strategies.
Chris has over 10 years’ experience in mechanical services design, building simulation, and low energy building design, for a wide variety of different types of building. He is a certified Passivhaus consultant and played a key part in delivering Oxford University’s first Passivhaus.
Anthony Mulraney | Associate
Anthony is responsible for resourcing in the Oxford office and has an overview of many project, offering support to internal & external design teams and our valued clients.
At a project level, Anthony is responsible for mechanical services design for projects from inception to completion, helping to ensure the delivery of each scheme to meet with the clients brief and expectations, particularly from a cost and technical perspective.
Joel Callow | Director
Dr Joel Callow has been designing buildings for natural light for nearly 20 years. Always seeking to balance the art and science of natural light, he has wide-ranging experience across many sectors, working in partnership with creative designers.
Joel utilises climate-based daylight modelling (CBDM) and façade solar mapping to understand how people experience natural light on aggregate – and ensures the building design respects and works with the natural environment’s resources. The result he aims for is happy, healthy people occupying buildings that harness nature to its best effect.
Jeremy Denton | Associate
Jeremy strives to provide all clients with a high level of services. The enthusiasm he brings to each project ensures all solutions for buildings services have been explored with a particular interest in lighting solutions to provide highly energy efficient and visually inspiring designs.
David Behan | Director
David is responsible for spearheading the mechanical design on a multitude of projects and sectors. He ensures that the client’s best interests are kept at the heart of design decisions and ensures that the capital costs are appropriately controlled.
Richard Turner | Director
Richard has an active involvement in the development and growth across each of the QODA offices. Since joining in 2011 his role has developed from project delivery and leadership of the Sustainability team to his current position as Director. As part of this role Richard focusses on ensuring high quality outputs and ongoing development across each of QODA’s design disciplines.
Richard still maintains an active involvement in projects and oversees the delivery of schemes across multiple sectors. His particular strength is supporting clients at the early stages of scheme design. Sustainability is still at the heart of what Richard does and he remains a strong influence across the diverse sectors within QODA.
Oliver Fuller | Director
Oliver heads up the Bristol office. He adopts a logical approach to projects and is responsible for the management and design of various projects from inception to completion.
David Kenward | Associate Mechanical
David is responsible for the management and mechanical services design for various projects from inception to completion, helping to ensure delivery of the scheme to meet with the clients brief and expectations.

As a Chartered Engineer, Nick is experienced in both technical detailed design as well as project and client management. He believes in providing a hands-on design service with clear and simple communication at its heart.
