Case Study

Private Residence, Gloucestershire

QODA were appointed as Passivhaus and M&E consultants for a new 3-bedroom house in the Cotswolds. The house is designed to ‘float’ above the ground, with a lake which sits partially below it. QODA have developed a strategy for the building which provides high levels of insulation and low air leakage using the renewable heat provided by a water source heat pump.

Wealden Leisure Centres

QODA were involved in this significant project working with the Clarkson Alliance for Freedom Leisure who operate a number of leisure centres for Wealden District Council. The project included a £5.5m capital investment and major refurbishment at four sites. One of the projects objectives was to deliver substantial energy improvements.

Private Residence, Cookham

QODA were appointed to undertake the full design of the electrical and mechanical services for the replacement of an existing dwelling and a new build house on a wonderful site adjacent to the River Thames. The project included a garage, outbuildings, swimming pooly, and landscaped gardens. Careful consideration for potential flood risks due to the property’s proximity to the river was essential along with close engagement with the client and design team during the design process, to meet the client requirements and ambitions. This attention to detail continued throughout the construction phase, coordinating with specialist bespoke furniture, detailing and monitoring workmanship to ensure the highest level of finish was achieved.

Woodberry Wetlands

QODA were appointed as M&E designers for the refurbishment of the Woodberry Wetlands Café and Visitor Centre in Stoke Newington. A popular spot for bird watching, it is hoped the new facilities will attract a larger number of visitors and educational outings to this rare peace of nature in the centre of London.

Private Estate, Wiltshire

QODA have been appointed as M&E consultants for the redevelopment of a private Estate in Wiltshire. The project involves the complete refurbishment of the existing buildings on the Estate along with the construction of a new visitors centre and farmstead. The site-wide infrastructure will also be modernised / upgraded following review.

Mackworth Extra Care

QODA were appointed as part of the contractors design team for a new £9.2million care complex in Derby. This facility provides 98 self-contained apartments, restaurant, shops, cinema, gym and support accommodation.

Fairfield House

Fairfield House is a domestic residence for a private client. QODA were employed to provide technical advice, a tender scope documentation, SAP calculations to enable the Client to achieve planning, and collaboration with the construction team with an overview and management of the contractor’s workmanship.

Dinas Powys Medical Centre

The new facility provides a purpose built two story medical centre including pharmacy retail outlet. QODA were responsible for the Mechanical and Electrical design including Part L compliance. The project was required to achieve an Excellent BREEAM rating.

Case Study

Knole Park, National Trust

QODA were originally appointed as Engineering Consultants for the purpose designed conservation studios as well as a new cafe building. Our commission has now been extended to include the refurbishment of the main show rooms involving the complete replacement of the electrical services, and the installation of systems to control the internal environment in order to protect the building fabric and irreplaceable objects contained within.

Private Residence, Goring

Using their Passivhaus experience, QODA were asked to assist a private client design team and build a bespoke new house to Passivhaus standards. The project includes the new house and landscape following the zero carbon requirements of the Passivhaus criteria replacing the existing building.
