Exciting new appointment!

17 January 2023
We are delighted to announce that our Associate Katie Clemence-Jackson has been appointed as Technical Project Manager for the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard.
The UK NZC Buildings Standard is a cross-industry initiative led and championed by key industry organisations BBP, BRE, the Carbon Trust, CIBSE, IStructE, LETI, RIBA, RICS, and UKGBC. It will enable the industry to robustly prove their built assets are net zero carbon and in line with our nation’s climate targets. You can read more on the UK NZC Building Standard website.
Part of the Standard’s development includes cross-referencing industry predictions with top-down carbon budgets. This will ensure that the targets align with science-based trajectories needed to achieve net zero by 2050 and a 78% reduction by 2035 in the UK. i.e. what is known to be required to stand a reasonable chance of mitigating global warming to 1.5°C. It will also align with the energy demand reductions projected to be required to enable a net zero carbon energy supply sector.
“Taking on this role is a fantastic opportunity to help the industry decarbonise and meet our climate goals. I am looking forward to collaborating with a wide range of experts to facilitate consensus on the definition of Net Zero Carbon. Above all, I am excited to play my part in making it all happen.”
The development of clear and robust NZC standards for our industry is vitally important to achieving our climate targets, so QODA are proud to be able to offer support to this initiative through Katie’s involvement.
