Overview
QODA was appointed to deliver building services consultancy for the new home of the Guernsey Football Association (GFA)—a landmark project that also provides a permanent base for Guernsey FC (GFC) for the first time in the club’s history. The development includes a 4,000-seat stadium, a floodlit 3G training pitch, and associated facilities for both elite and community use.
Project vision
The aim was to create a future-proofed, energy-efficient sports facility that supports professional football, community engagement, and long-term sustainability goals. The design needed to balance operational performance, cost efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
Key features
All-Electric Strategy:
QODA assessed LPG vs electric solutions and recommended a fully electric approach aligned with sustainability objectives.
Low-Carbon Heating & Hot Water:
Comprehensive Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) system serving all spaces.
Utility Infrastructure Review:
Detailed feasibility studies and capital/lifecycle cost analysis to inform decision-making.
QODA’s role
QODA developed the client brief into a comprehensive Design & Build performance specification for the new Guernsey Football Association stadium. Following this, we were re-appointed as the Client’s Technical Advisor to support delivery through the construction phase.
Our team provided strategic energy advice and MEP design input, ensuring the integration of efficient, compliant systems that align with the project’s long-term sustainability and operational goals.
Impact
This transformational project will provide a permanent home for the GFA and GFC, delivering state-of-the-art facilities for league matches, representative games, and community use. By adopting an all-electric, low-carbon strategy, the development sets a benchmark for sustainable sports infrastructure.
